With finals starting this weekend, I wanted to take one more opportunity to write to campus before the end of the academic year. We have seen both historic accomplishments and tough challenges this year, and I am proud that UCR continues to stand as a unique institution in the U.S. and the world.
First and foremost, I offer my congratulations to our graduating students. Each of you have left your mark on UCR. Please remember that this is your university. I hope to see you back on campus, and I look forward to hearing about all that you will achieve.
To all Highlanders, I extend my gratitude for all that you do to make UCR great. We made tremendous progress as an institution over the past year. We started the year by welcoming the largest incoming class in our history, followed by launching our first comprehensive fundraising campaign. We received national recognition for student success and international acclaim for our scholarship. We broke ground on facilities that will benefit our campus for decades to come, and our two newest schools are about to host their first commencements. All these accomplishments, and countless more, are only possible because we have faculty, staff, and students dedicated to our university.
I wish you all a healthy and safe summer. Please take a moment to watch the video above, created by a recent UCR grad, that introduces you to a few members of the Class of 2017. I also invite you to stay in touch with me on Instagram.
